The SI Awards will be highlighted by a live reveal of the 2021 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year, in addition to recognizing notable athletes, teams and sports moments that made the year memorable. Sports Illustrated is also proud to recognize one athlete with one of the evening’s most prestigious honors – The Muhammad Ali Legacy Award.
Since its inception in 1954, the Sportsperson of the Year has annually been presented to the athlete, coach or team whose performance that year most embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement. For the first time in history, the Sportsperson of the Year Presented by FTX was revealed live during the award-show broadcast in front of millions of viewers.
